The other day, I was at a classic car show, and I was talking to a buddy of mine, and I had my digital camera out taking pictures of everything, and in the parking lot on the way into the car show there was one of those new T-Birds with the retro look. It had extra fender flares, and some aftermarket stuff, but it really looked cool, and it looked quite old, but being a car buff I realized that it was probably built a couple years ago. And it probably cost him a bundle, considering that it was new and all the work which had been done, and therefore it wasn’t cheap.

After going through the car show, there were some actual vintage T-Birds, and they were all decked out and very beautiful, and I talked to some of the owners there that had spent a pretty penny on all the components, and keeping them all original. One of them won third place in Best of Show category, and I believe he deserved it. It was amazing the amount of work he had put in, and it was a daily driver. This is the car he drove around in, which is even more impressive considering he placed so high at the car show.

As I was going back out into the parking lot, I saw the individual get into his car with his wife in the more modern retro T-Bird, and we had a quick chat because we love cars, and he said that he had about $52,000 in the car, which is very similar to the amount of money that the classic car owner had in his T-Bird, although the classic T-Bird also had intrinsic value due to its “real classic” label and category. The owner of the new T-Bird said his insurance was quite high, and he was making loan payments.

The old classic owner probably didn’t have any loan payments, as he had paid as he went as he was fixing it up, but it’s obvious he had the same amount of money in it. So that brings up another good question; do you spend your time and money to rebuild a classic car, or do you just go buy one, or do you instead enjoy the retro look, and never worry about it breaking down, because the car is virtually new?

When you see an Aston Martin for sale, you are looking at one of the most understated and seductive of all sports cars on the market. This is the signature brand among cars with an unmatched aura of exclusivity and mystique – certainly one for those with taste and class.

Reasons for High Esteem

The Aston Martin for sale that you see is famous for its craftsmanship. Aston Martin cars are held in high esteem because they have a fantastic reputation. Only superior grade materials are used in manufacturing these cars. All Aston Martin cars including models such as the DB4 and Aston Martin Virage have to pass through stringent quality controls. Before their release, all Martin cars have to undergo rigorous road tests. These cars are an unbeatable combination of safety, style and durability. Of course, nothing beats this car when it comes to power and it is the ultimate symbol of power, prestige and success.

Models

Among the best selling models of Martin is the Virage. This is the latest beauty and masterpiece due to its combination of elegant design and functionality. It doesn’t scream out its credentials, rather it subtly hints at its potential, elegance and pure lines.

It is the ultimate combination of luxury, refinement and performance. It provides effortless driving with sports car performance whenever required. These cars have entered a new contemporary phase with the Virage and its exquisite surface language and attention to detail.

This model is among the best selling of all Aston Martin cars. The cars are hand crafted in England and have the capability to reach 0-62 miles per hour in 4.6 second. The maximum speed attainable with this model is 186 miles per hour. The interiors are made of hand stitched Bridge Weir leather.

Yet another impressive model from the Martin stable is the DB4 which looks like a thoroughbred and is rightfully placed on the enviable list of most desirable touring cars. This classic car impresses with its performance and unique design and has provided the basis for many Martin classics.

If you are moving a standard passenger car and want to investigate different car transport trailer options there are many possibilities in today’s auto shipping industry offered to the discerning customer. Open multi-car transport is the most economical and popular option for moving unrestored collector vehicles or everyday cars.

In most situations, your car will be conveyed on an eight or 10-car carrier, the same kind of trucks used to deliver new cars. These trucks are 75 to 80 feet long and about 13 feet high. They can be difficult to maneuver and are limited to major roads that are free of low hanging trees and low clearance bridges. Make sure you are aware of this fact when directing the truck to the pick-up location or to your home.

When a transporter mentions pick up window they are referring to the time surrounding your pick up date. For instance some shippers may have a 14 day window – that way they can pick your vehicle up anywhere between seven days before and seven days after your pick up date. Lower priced carriers will not specify their pick up dates, you however may receive an outstanding price. The down side is that you may not see your vehicle for four or five weeks.

Make sure that the cheap car transport company you choose shows proof of their federal license and insurance requirements. There are many transport companies who do not carry the federal license, bond, or insurance requirements, and will move your car for a low fee, but this leaves you unprotected against theft and damage.

Distance of move… local or just a couple hundred miles… long distance or interstate… international or overseas?

What type of service… door to door… terminal to terminal… drive-away service?

Are you in a primary market… California, Florida, Texas, etc…. or secondary market… North Dakota, Wyoming, etc.?

Pre transport checklist… research auto haulers and get estimates… scheduling… vehicle preparation… inspection and inventory report… pickup and delivery checklist.

These are just some of the issues to take into account before arranging an automobile move.

Another type of vehicle move includes boat, or yacht transport. A successful boat relocation will normally require a boat moving specialist. Depending upon how far and how large your boat is, will determine how it is moved.

1. Take it to the car wash -- Cleaning your car at home seems to make sense, particularly from a cost vantage point. However, you’ll go through more water at home than what a car wash uses and you’ll also risk scratching your car by using towels not designed to do the job. Visit your local car wash and buy coupon books to get more washes for less money.

2. Leave the lights on – Some cars come with daytime running lights, which means your headlamps are always on from the moment you engage the ignition until you turn it off. For everyone else, headlamps kept on even on a sunny day provide better warning to other drivers of your proximity, thereby reducing the risk of an accident.

3. Change your oil less frequently – You’ve heard the one about oil changes every three months or 3,000 miles, right? Well, that information is no longer accurate. Modern cars can go at least 5,000 miles between oil changes with no harm to your engine. Check your owner’s manual for the precise maintenance intervals and be prepared to save yourself some money.

4. Use a tuner chip – So-called aftermarket parts can help your car perform better. A super tuner or super chip can help your car’s engine perform better, by upping the horsepower without hurting fuel economy. Check with your mechanic for the tuner or chip that is right for your car.

5. Empty the trunk – Once winter ends, you don’t need that 40-pound bag of kitty litter, the shovel and all of the other stuff you keep in your car. It isn’t too difficult to carry an extra 50 to 200 pounds onboard. Lose the extra stuff and your gas mileage will improve.

6. Tackle the crack – The moment your windshield gets a nick, plan on taking care of the problem before it worsens. Neglect the nick and you’ll have to replace the entire windshield, costing you hundreds of dollars. Fill the crevice with an optically matched resin that should keep cracks from occurring. Your insurance company may waive the deductible if the repair is small.

7. Replace aged tires – Your car’s tires may not be worn, but they may have aged out. Tires that are seven or eight years old should be replaced even if they haven’t been worn out. You may not see visible signs of wear, but that doesn’t mean that the rubber is still able to bring your car to a safe stop.

From the cold north in Scandinavia, one car manufacturer stands out as the maker of cars that are synonymous with safety. Volvo, based in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, has, for over 80 years now, been building cars that not just last, but stand the test of time to an extent that would put many reputed car manufacturers to shame. With many cars still on the road with many hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock, some being several decades old, it’s hard to find a fault in the build quality. And with the proper maintenance, they can keep running for many more years. Although the original lot were based on a simple design philosophy – of being safe and reliable cars above all else, always following the function over form methodology.

Now, after their stint with Ford and the lessons learned in that period, backed by a fresh conglomerate, Volvo has risen back to the fore with product offerings that stunned the automobile world. Models like the XC60 and the all-new S60 were quite the benchmark at their time of launch. Automobile manufacturers scurried to look into the new technologies that Volvo has brought to the fore on these car lines. Technology that included the laser-assisted automatic braking system, called “City Safety”, and radar-based adaptive cruise control. However, Volvo purists, although happy that the company is venturing into earlier unvisited territory, are skeptical about modern Volvo models. They consider the deviation from their original design values rather shocking, and prefer to hold on to their classic models. And when it comes to maintaining these models, an altogether different concern arises.

Classic cars have their own charm. Their charisma and beauty can turn several heads on the road. If you have set your eyes on any such beauty then it is time that you know some helpful tips before you finalize your decision. Most of the prospective buyers have a potential classic car in their head, however if you have not decided on the model of the car then it is best to read reviews about different classic cars and make a fair comparison.

It is important to know the exact year of manufacture before comparing car reviews. Even a small time difference can change the value of any classic car. You can visit different car clubs or online car forums to get the best advice. One must also decide on whether they would want to buy a restored car or they would prefer to buy a project car and restore it themselves. Project cars may be cheap however they would incur heavy expense in the restoration process whereas restored cars are easy picks. Once one has finalized the model of the classic car, it is time to shop around for price. It is best to check the average market price by searching the internet. One must also shop around for insurance options available for classic cars.

Not all insurance companies provide auto insurance on classic cars hence it is important that you research and understand classic car insurance policies online. Next thing is to speak to the car owner and understand the reason for selling the vintage car. One must understand that it is hard to find spare parts for old models and most of the parts available online are going to cost a fortune. Thorough inspection by a local mechanic is recommended to avoid major expenses in future. One must check for dents or scratches or any surface abrasions. It is also important that you check the interiors of the car thoroughly. Inspect the odometer and look out for any loose wires. One must also inspect the car upholstery for stains or damages.

The big, ground-pounding machines of the 60′s and early 70′s are heavily sought-after classics. From the Coke bottle styling of the ’68 Dodge Charger and its Big block Hemi’s, to the low slung lines of the ’63 split-window Corvette, Detroit had something for everyone, and the same still holds true for private collectors and connoisseurs today.

It doesn’t take much detective work to find something you would be proud to have maturing in your driveway. And you might be surprised at just how little you would spend to get it. While many classics are going for prices that easily put your mortgage payment to shame, a lot of great examples are still out there and are still very affordable. Mustangs, Novas, and a whole host of Chryslers can still be had for less than $5,000 – you can believe it; it’s true.

For the really great deals though, you need to think outside the box. Two words: Station Wagon. Yep, you read it right; the much-maligned family favorite is making a serious comeback. And you might want to get yours while you can, because prices for these babies are on the up and up. Back in the day, many of those station wagons came with the same high horsepower plants their big brothers were using to terrorize the local drag strips every Saturday night. Big blocks were common, and a few even came with a factory four-speed. The Impala, Nova and Dodge Coronet all had wagon models, and from the windshield forward, were nearly identical.
